Дин Мартин родился 7 июня 1917 года в Стобенвиле, штат Огайо, США, в семье итальянских эмигрантов. В молодости профессионально занимался боксом, выступал на матчах, любил карточные игры. В ранние годы планировал в будущем стать певцом, актёром. Долгое время выступал в ночных клубах родного города, исполняя разнообразные песни. Позже начал гастролировать с этими песнями по всей стране. В 1946 году, во время гастролей в Атлантик-Сити Дин Мартин познакомился с известным эстрадным комиком — Джерри Льюисом. Объединившись в единый дуэт, с 1948 года заключают контракт с компанией «Парамаунт», исполняют песни и играют роли в кино.

Через 10 лет дуэт Дина и Джерри распался. За время совместной работы они вместе сыграли в шестнадцати кинокомедиях. Джерри Льюис стал продюсером, режиссёром, одновременно актёром, Дин стал самостоятельным артистом.

Дин Мартин снялся в огромном количестве фильмов. Ближе к 60-м годам, сотрудничество с Фрэнком Синатрой даёт певцу возможность показать себя в качестве певца, а такие песни как: «If» (Если), «You Belong To Me» (Ты принадлежишь мне), «Love Me, Love Me» (Люби меня, Люби Меня), «That’s Amore» (Это Любовь), «I’d Cry Like Baby», «Sway» (Качание, Колебание), «Memories Are Made Of This» (Воспоминания Сделаны Из Этого), «Innamorata» (Иннамората), «Angel Baby» (Детка Ангел), «Dream A little Dream Of Me» и другие, сделали певца известной личностью и исполнителем XX века. Актёр умер 25 декабря 1995, в Беверли Хиллс, штат Калифорния, США.
